Kartika Airlines

Penang is one of the most sought after tourism destinations in Malaysia. Millions of tourists from the nook and corner of the globe come over to this majestic island every year. Kartika Airlines and many other top airline service providers play an instrumental role in popularizing Penang's identity as a travel destination. Kartika Airlines, like any other major airliners, provides sincere and state-of-the-art passenger services as well as safety measures. The crew members are extremely cooperative and sensitive to the requirements of passengers. Affordable ticket prices are another reason why Kartika Airlines has grown into a popular airliner in just 6 years from its first operation.

Based in the city of Jakarta in Indonesia, Kartika Airlines has its operational headquarter at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. It started flying operations on May 2001 and since then has been able to serve to a huge base of highly satisfied passengers. The crew members are well conversant with the indigenous culture of Penang and other destinations, both in Malaysia and Indonesia. It makes the passengers feel at home away from home.

One of the dark phases in the history of Kartika Airlines appeared when the operation was shut down in November 2004. However, it recovered soon, resuming services on June 15, 2005. PT Truba, an esteemed name in Asian airliner industry, owns Kartika Airlines.

Regarded as one of the major airlines in Penang, Kartika Airlines ensures international safety standards for all its passengers. New safety measures were installed after the Indonesian Transport Ministry in March 2007 issued a warning that seven airliners would be grounded unless they implement world class training procedures and maintenance services. The authority devised a yardstick to judge the safety merits of a particular airline service provider. Accordingly, the airliners were segregated into 3 bands. Kartika Airlines was in the list of seven aircrafts belonging to the third (least safe) band, with the other six being Batavia Air, Adam Air, Jatayu Airlines, Transwisata Prima Aviation, Manunggal Air Services and Tri-MG Intra Asia Airlines.

The domestic flights operating under Kartika Airlines are destined to fly to Jakarta, Medan and Batam. The international flights serve Penang and Ipoh. Penang flights operate uninterruptedly via Medan.

As per the official report from the concerned authority, Kartika Airlines fleet constitutes two Boeing 737-200. This Boeing has a 3-Class configuration: Business Class (8 seats), Economy Class (76 seats) and Economy Deluxe Class (30 seats).
